In 2013, the median time for an initial decision for submitted manuscripts was 6 days, and the median time from submission to acceptance for all articles was 27 days. The JEM is a leading life sciences journal with an ISI impact factor of 14.588,* placing it among the top publications in two ISI categories: Immunology and Research & Experimental Medicine. The journals articles also have lasting impact, with a cited half-life of seven years.
With an acceptance rate below 15%, the JEM remains one of the most selective biomedical journals. Researchers who submit their work to the JEM benefit from an average time-to-first-decision of <5 weeks for reviewed manuscripts and <10 days for non-reviewed manuscripts. The average time from acceptance to publication remains under eight weeks.
Begun in 1896 at the Johns Hopkins University, the JEM is owned and has been published on a not-for-profit basis by the Rockefeller University Press since 1905. With the internationalization or globalization in the research environment, it was decided to change the Journal title to Journal of Pharmacological Sciences commencing from 2003, targeting more contributors and readers from all over the world. This Journal has been distributed as an on-line version since 2002, ensuring its rapid distribution to an international audience.
